Wednesday (11/1/2017) NYC terrorist is Schumer Diversity Lottery immigrant

The pro-ISIS terrorist who killed eight bicyclists yesterday in Lower Manhattan is an Uzbek green card holder admitted to the US under the Diversity Immigrant Visa lottery. In the wake of the incident, President Trump, Fox News, and other conservatives are blaming Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for playing a leading role in creating the program in 1990. The President and his supporters wish to eliminate this program in favor of a merit-based immigration policy.

A number of recent terrorist attacks in the US and Europe have been committed by immigrants from Central Asia. The Tsarnaev brothers, who perpetrated the deadly 2013 Boston Marathan bombing which killed five and injured 264, were from Kyrgyzstan.

The ‘stans’

The “stans” of Central Asia are five Moslem countries that emerged from the breakup of the Soviet Union. Besides Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, these include Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. During its heydey, many ISIS soldiers were from the stans.

A moderate Saudi Arabia?

Up to now, Saudi Arabia has been the major source of the fundamentalist ideology and funding of the Sunni jihadist groups behind most of the terrorism in the U.S. and Europe.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is expected to inherit the throne on the death of his father, has vowed to turn Saudi Arabia into a modern, moderate Islamic country. This has greatly upset Islamists in Turkey as well as Saudi Arabia. But the Prince’s reform plans are crucial to the Trump administration’s tilt toward the Saudis and away from Iran.

The Crown Prince “has ordered the establishment of an authority (King Salman Complex) to scrutinize uses of Hadiths. According to media reports, the body’s aim would be to ‘eliminate fake and extremist texts and any texts that contradict the teachings of Islam and justify the committing of crimes, murders and terrorist acts.’ The King Salman Complex will become a ‘trusted source of the correct and authentic hadith…'”

Politico‘s violation of journalism standards

Politico was one of the first and most aggressive web sites hammering away at the theme that President Trump was suspiciously beholden to Russia and Vladimir Putin. This meme created the environment for the appointment of Special Counsel Mueller to investigate the alleged collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.

Today, a number of publications, including the Wall Street Journal and The Federalist, are strongly criticizing Politico for violating the fundamental journalistic obligation to reveal to readers possible conflicts-of-interest in its reporting.

Violation of academic standards in American Indian field

Which brings us to a related subject — violation of the academic obligation to promote freedom of research and publication. Research into American Indian origins and language has been one of the most notorious fields for such violations. To propitiate American Indian tribal beliefs, relativist academics are attacking as “Western” bias the massive evidence that American Indians migrated from northeastern Asia. And they have found a more vulnerable target in a lone professor, a Hopi language expert, who presumed to attack the relativist-promoted Whorf hypothesis that the Hopi language doesn’t permit a Western concept of time. This article describes how Northern Arizona University’s administration suppressed one of its professor’s publications and conferences.
