Wikipedia’s current article on the settlement of the Americas states that “Historically, theories about migration into the Americas have centered on migration [on foot] from Beringia through the interior of North America.” For decades that was the dominant, fiercely held theory in the archaeological community. That was then, as we learn from the lead article in the latest issue of Science, which begins, “Most archaeologists think the first Americans arrived by boat. Now, they’re beginning to prove it.” The article on the subject features a superb shorted video embedded in it. This is highly recommended viewing: Americas settled by boat.
